Our Staff

Our company is Lochaber’s only locally owned and managed funeral directors and all of our staff are local to Fort William and Lochaber. We believe this is essential when dealing with bereaved families as a friendly familiar face can help ease the difficult time of losing a loved one. Below is our current staff members and their roles here.

Jamie S. Manson Cert. FP, M.I.F.D.C – Director/Principal Funeral Director

Jamie has been involved in the funeral industry since the age of 17. During this time he has gained a wealth of experience and knowledge in all aspects of funeral service. Jamie was born and brought up in Fort William and has extensive expertise on local traditions throughout Lochaber. He is also a fully qualified and accredited funeral director (Cert. F.P. M.I.F.D.C.) and these recognised qualifications were obtained through the    Independent Funeral Directors College. Now in his 16th year of funeral directing, Jamie serves the communities of Fort William and Lochaber, providing families with the upmost dignity, respect and the highest standards of care.

Beth MacBeath – Director/Office Manager

Beth, also born and raised in Fort William has worked for the company for over 18 years running the busy office, attending call outs and all practical duties  within the funeral home. Before this Beth worked in the banking industry for 7 years and previous to that was a nursing auxiliary and care assistant in various hospitals and care homes from Aberdeen to Lochaber from leaving school. Since starting Beth has gained a wealth of knowledge and experience in the funeral industry and now holds a license to sell funeral plans and also looks after our headstone and memorial department.

Tom Jenkins – Funeral Director

Tom started working with us in 2021 as a Trainee Funeral Director, a career he has always been keen to get involved in. Tom previously worked locally at the Ben Nevis Distillery in Fort William for a period spanning over 10 years and decided it was time for a change. Extensive training for Tom is underway both in house and through the Independent Funeral Directors College where he will gain a recognised qualification in Funeral Directing.

Ewan Paterson – Funeral Service Operative

Ewan came to work with Manson and MacBeath in 2018 in a part time role, his full time working life was served locally with British Alcan (Lochaber Smelter). His role is assisting Jamie and Tom in all duties practical before, during and after funeral services.

Mick Crighton – Funeral Service Operative

Mick is a time served joiner and joined us as a funeral operative following his retirement in 2019. His role is assisting Jamie and Tom in all duties practical before, during and after funeral services.

Iain Johnston – Funeral Service Operative

Iain was keen to get involved and work alongside us following his retirement. His full time career involved employment with the former Pulp and Paper Mill in Corpach and latterly Marine Harvest (MOWI). His role is assisting Jamie and Tom in all duties practical before, during and after funeral services.

 

 

Most of our staff work on our ‘on-call’ rota system to cover our essential 24 hour, 365 days a year service. We also have 4 more members of staff who work causal hours as and when required.
